         Submission Guidelines

Lamplit Underground accepts submissions in all things related to the unique, the grotesque, the beautiful, the powerful. Published and unpublished artists are encouraged to submit- the more eclectic, the better. We want poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art, photography, multi-media, music, video and would like to eventually feature an entire section devoted to all sorts of “underground” Travel (please no generic reviews of the Eiffel Tower- we want sinking stories from the Capuchin crypt).

Basically, if you’ve got an unusual statement to make, here’s a place to make it.

Please send your submissions to lamplitunderground@gmail.com and follow our guidelines in order to be considered for publication:

  • State name and genre in Subject heading (Example: "Isak Dinesen, Fiction" or "Bob Ross, Watercolor")

  • Submit all text as either .doc, .docx or .RTF attachment or in the body of the email

  • 1-5 poems

  • Fiction/prose/short stories/reviews/travel writing usually between 500-5k words, but we will consider longer/shorter works

  • Videos through direct links to Vimeo

  • Audios will be accepted as .mp3 attachments

  • Visuals should be sent as .JPGs when possible

Please include your name, the work’s title and a word count for longer pieces. If you would like to include a short bio to go alongside your work in the case of publication, please do so (in the 3rd person), and try to keep it under 150 words. We are happy to link to websites/social media accounts.

We accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that you let us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Turnaround time varies with number of submissions, but we try to respond within 3-4 weeks. Expect a response no later than 3 months and feel free to query after that point.

Lastly (and unfortunately) we cannot offer payment for submissions as of yet, but we hope to change that in the future.

Copyright returns to original artist after 30 days. We retain the right to include your work in a volume/an archive and kindly ask that you reference Lamplit Underground in subsequent publications.
